It's been three years already since we lost Dilip Kumar, the legendary actor of Indian cinema. He was a gem of stars delivering incredible movies to Bollywood. His wife Saira Banu never misses a chance to celebrate her late husband Dilip Kumar. On the death anniversary, she penned a lengthy note recalling her other half. Recalling a couple of anecdotes she revealed the veteran actor suffered from severe insomnia. On Instagram, she shared a handwritten letter and a few adorable pictures of the couple.
Saira Banu expressed her love by writing a note to thank all of Dilip Kumar’s admirers, fans, well-wishers, friends, and family. Sharing the note on his third death anniversary, she asserted that it makes her happy to know that people out there remember important dates and pray for Dilip Sahib who is an inspiration for Six generations of actors as well as for the coming generations. She further revealed that Sahib wanted to be a Sportsman of national level rather than what destiny had in store for him. She even mentioned that the late actor was best of friends with the first Prime Minister of India, Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru Sahab, Atal Bihari Vajpayee Sahab, Narsimha Rao Sahab, alongside the leading lawyers, economists, and Industrialists etc.
The note further continued, “You see, Sahib was the greatest actor of all time. He had absolutely everything at his disposal, yet not many people know that he suffered from severe insomnia. Before our marriage, even after taking pills, he would remain awake until dawn. However, once we got married and became indispensable to each other, he started sleeping just in time. He even gave me a cute nickname, endearingly saying, "Saira, you are my sleeping pill, you are my pillow." To this day, I burst into laughter remembering the charm with which he would say it.”
Sair Bannu further added, “He was a fun-loving person, always calling me 'Aunty' and laughing. Yet, beneath the jests, laughter, and those heartfelt notes, there lay pure love.” She then concluded by calling Dilip Kumar forever and praying, “May Allah keep him in his love and blessings…Aameen!”
