Mumbai Police has filed a staggering 1,735-page charge sheet against nine accused, including six arrested individuals and three wanted persons, in connection with the firing incident outside Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's Bandra residence in April. The chargesheet, which names notorious gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, was submitted at the special Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOC) court.
The detailed charge sheet, spanning three volumes, includes various investigation documents. These documents feature statements from 46 witnesses, witness statements under Section 164 of the CrPC recorded before the magistrate, confessional statements under the MCOC Act, 22 panchanamas, and a substantial amount of technical evidence. The court will now scrutinize the charge sheet to determine the next steps in the legal process. This development marks a significant milestone in the investigation of the April 14th firing incident outside Salman Khan's Galaxy Apartments.
On that day, two motorcycle-borne assailants fired five rounds outside Khan's residence in the early hours. This incident followed a series of threats against Khan and his family over the past year, prompting the actor to apply for a weapons license for their protection. Khan revealed during a police statement in June that he had received threats from Bishnoi's gang, including a letter found near his home in June 2022 and a threat issued by fugitive gangster Goldy Brar in 2023.
The charge sheet also disclosed more alarming details, including that Bishnoi had placed a bounty of Rs. 25 lakhs on Salman Khan. This revelation underscores the gravity of the threats and the ongoing danger faced by the actor and his family.
The entertainment industry is closely watching as the legal proceedings continue to unfold in this high-profile case.
