Soorarai Pottru, headlined by Tamil superstar Suriya, was exceptionally well-received in Tamil and Indian cinema. The film, directed by Sudha Kongara, captivated audiences with its powerful narrative and raw emotions. Inspired by the life of G. R. Gopinath, founder of the low-cost airline Simplify Deccan, the film chronicled his journey to make air travel affordable for the common man. The authentic portrayal of Gopinath’s challenges and triumphs resonated deeply with viewers.

The original film's success was further solidified when it won five awards at the 68 National Film Awards: Best Feature Film, Best Actor, Best Actress, Best Screenplay, and Best Background Score. In Sarfira, Akshay Kumar steps into the shoes of Vir Mhatre, a character inspired by Gopinath, who is determined to launch India's first low-cost airline with 1 ticket for the common man. The trailer, which dropped today, has already captivated the audience's attention, promising to motivate people to dream big and chase their aspirations. The story, filled with raw emotions and an energetic ensemble, begins with Vir declaring his financial struggles but unwavering belief in his transformative idea.

The film is directed by Sudha Kongara, who also helmed the Tamil original. The screenplay is written by Sudha and Shalini Ushadevi, with dialogues by Pooja Tolani. The music, composed by G. V. Prakash Kumar, adds another layer of intensity to the narrative. Sarfira is produced by Aruna Bhatia (Cape of Good Films), South superstars Suriya and Jyotika (2D Entertainment), and Vikram Malhotra (Abundantia Entertainment).
