Radhika Merchant's Haldi ceremony floral jewelry crafted in ‘six hours by five designers’, says artist

Radhika Merchant celebrated her haldi ceremony in vibrant style on July 8 at Anant Ambani’s family home, Antilia, in Mumbai. Styled by renowned fashionista Rhea Kapoor, the bride-to-be looked radiant in a vividly embroidered yellow lehenga by the acclaimed designer Anamika Khanna.

Radhika's elegance was enhanced by her choice of floral jewelry, adding a touch of nature's beauty to her ensemble. Her glowing skin, a small red bindi, and subtle nude lipstick completed her stunning bridal look. The contemporary Indian silhouette was further highlighted by a breathtaking floral dupatta. This unique accessory featured a fresh floral "tagar jaal" design, meticulously crafted with marigold flowers and thousands of individual tagar kalis.

The floral theme extended to the exquisite jewelry designed by Srishti Kapur of Floral Art. Crafted from fresh white tagar kalis, the jewelry set included earrings, tassel-adorned tops, a double necklace with a choker, haath phool (hand ornament), and floral kaleeras.

In an interview with indianexpress.com, Srishti Kapur shared the behind-the-scenes details of the last-minute project. Rhea Kapoor’s team reached out to her just the night before the ceremony, requiring a rapid turnaround. Despite the tight schedule, Srishti and her team of five managed to create the stunning jewelry set in just six hours.

“It was all very hectic. It took 6 hours and 5 people to make the jewelry completely. They wanted the look to be minimalistic and not overshadow Radhika, who is petite. We were asked to use more of white flowers as the outfit would be yellow,” Srishti explained. Although she was also tasked with making the ‘phoolon ki chadar,’ her team couldn't complete it due to time constraints. “Their local florist made the dupatta, according to my knowledge,” she added.

The captivating look was brought to life using three types of flowers: fragrant tagar kalis, cheerful yellow button daisies, and delicate Thai rui (crown) flowers, Srishti revealed.

The highly anticipated wedding of Radhika Merchant and Anant Ambani is set for July 12 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai. Their pre-wedding festivities began with a puja ceremony on June 29th at the Ambani residence.
