Emraan Hashmi takes a jibe on Kangana Ranaut’s statement on awards lacking credibility

Emraan Hashmi who is gearing up for the second installment of his web series Showtime, took a jibe at Kangana Ranaut. The gangster co-stars have a cordial relationship with each other. The actor recently spoke about his co-star’s comment about award shows lacking credibility. He took a dig at the Emergency actor for her comment about awards but later agreed too with her sentiments. He claimed that Kangana took all the accolades for Gangsterr and later said awards shows are worthless.

According to Kangana Ranaut, award shows are not valuable and planned, reacting to this Emraan Hashmi quipped “Maybe because she isn’t winning any longer.” In a podcast with Shubhankar Mishra, the Gangster hero said,  “Kyunki milna band hogaye uske baad? I remember winning once, but I soon understood the ‘game’ behind this. It’s essentially a barter deal; you make an appearance and dance. I wouldn’t want to diss awards, but if someone wants to decorate their living room by dancing, all power to them. But I can’t pat myself on the back and say that I’ve delivered a good performance, because it’s a lie. You should win if you’ve done well. What’s the point of winning if it’s going to be a barter deal? The value of these awards shows has been diluted over the years”

Talking about his relationship with Kangana, the actor said, “Fantastic, cordial, wonderful. I’m very fond of her, she’s very fond of me. Unfortunately, we haven’t met in a while. We last worked together in 2015 on a Dharma film. We haven’t met since then, but I’m very fond of her. We’ve done a lot of films together, so our tuning is special.”

On the work front, both have collaborated on films namely Gangster, Raaz, Ungli, and Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai. Emraan was last seen in Salman Khan starrer Tiger 3 as an antagonist. He is currently leading a Disney+ Hotstar web series titled Showtime. On the other hand, Kangana Ranaut is gearing up for next directorial Emergency where she will essay India’s former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi.
