Kamal Haasan returned with the most awaited Hindustani 2 aka Indian 2 remake of 1996 released Indian which was a commercial hit. However, the second installment which hit theaters 26 years later turned out to be a disappointment. The megastar fails to save the sinking ship helmed by S Shankar. Releasing today July 12, 2024, the political drams failed to impress the audience.
Megastar Kamal Haasan reprised his role of vigilante Senapathy from Indian in Hindustani 2. As the film starts it is quoted that corruption causes cancer to the nation and the lead character doesn’t endorse corruption in any way. A group of youth heads a YouTube channel named Barking Dogs which aims to clean the country from corruption. They run a social media trend #ComeBackIndian referring to Senapthy who is settled in Taipei, Taiwan after leaving India in 1996. He aims to punish the corrupt person to death and seeing the situation in India Barking Dogs group seeks help from him to make a better India in regard to corruption.
Hindustani 2 takes a toll with unnecessary drama, and extended scenes. The movie revolves around a strong subject but has a loose narrative that could have been explained in a better way. Despite some great actors like Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, and Rakul Preet Singh the movie isn’t gripping and engaging. With poor dialogue and no creativity, the political drama looks dull in spite of a few grand visuals.
Kamal Haasan carries a swag in his reprised character which is too old to take of any fight but the actor breaks the stereotype by conducting some major action moves. Despite Kamal Haasan's action efforts, he did not succeed in impressing with his acting. On the other hand, Siddharth performed averagely while Rakul Preet Singh had less screen time. Director S Shankar's film offers nothing new and lacks novelty and adequate screenplay. Hindustani 2: Zero Tolerance would make you tolerate the movie for 180 minutes.
