Aamir Khan’s son Junaid Khan made his Bollywood debut starring in a period drama movie titled Maharaj. The actor is basking in praise for his stellar performance in the first film directed by Siddharth Malhotra. Being a star kid he has sparked comparisons with his father Aamir Khan who is tagged as Mr. Perfectionist. The film also starring Jaideep Ahlawat and Sharwari Wagh earned laurels from critics and audiences alike. Celebrating the success Yash Raj Films hosted a press conference where Junaid Khan addressed the pressure of being compared to his father.
Junaid thinks Aamir would not have accepted the kind of role he did in Maharaj. During the media interaction, Junaid was asked if he felt pressure of being compared to his father. He said, "Mujhe nahi lagta ki itna pressure tha. My family is very supportive, toh unki tarf se pressure nahi tha. My director, and producer were very supportive. I had fantastic co-stars to work with. Toh mujhe woh pressure kahi se feel nahi hua. In fact, I never thought about it." Addressing the comparison he jokingly replied, "I don't think Maharaj is a kind of role papa would go for now in any case (laughed)."
Siddharth P Malhotra's directorial Maharaj sparked controversies for being based on the Maharaj Libel case of 1862. The film faced a ban from the Gujarat court with allegations of hurting religious sentiments. However, soon the ban was lifted and the film was released on streaming giant Netflix. Despite the debut film of a star kid, the movie was released without a trailer and promotions. Yash Raj Films thanked the judiciary for lifting the stay and giving it a green signal.
On the work front, Junaid Khan has an exciting slate of upcoming movies. With the first film running well, he is already working on a few more movies. He has reportedly shot a film with Sai Pallavi and on the other he will also star opposite Khushi Kapoor in a romantic drama.
