Here’s how Shah Rukh Khan made ‘Dil Se’ Preity Zinta’s debut film

Preity Zinta has managed to amaze the audience with her performances throughout her career and is undoubtedly one of the finest actors of Bollywood even now. Although the actress has been staying away from the films for a while she is set to return to the big screens and recently wrapped shooting for ‘Lahore 1947’ alongside Sunny Deol. But do you know that the actress who debuted with a small role in ‘Dil Se’ with Shah Rukh Khan and Manisha Koirala in the lead was signed for other films? Preity was already doing ‘Kya Kehna’ and ‘Soldier’ at the time that the offer for ‘Dil Se’ surfaced.

In a recent interview, the producer Ramesh Taurani recalled the same. He said that despite signing the actress for ‘Kya Kehna’, the film was released later. On the other side while working for ‘Soldier’ she was signed that no other film should be released before that according to the contract but after the small role in ‘Dil Se’ surfaced, since it wasn’t the lead, she was allowed to perform it. The producer also shared that while the ‘Soldier’ was set to release there was again a delay due to the music of the film. Considering all the delays, Mani Ratnam and Shah Rukh Khan contacted him and convinced him to release Dil Se before Soldier. The producer agreed and subsequently, Dil Se became the debut film of Preity Zinta. Despite having a small role in it, she managed to show her versatility and was lauded by the audience for her performance in the project.

Her upcoming film ‘Lahore 1947’ is being directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and is produced by Aamir Khan under the banner Aamir Khan Productions. The actress announced about wrapping the shoot on her Instagram where she posted a montage video capturing the glimpses from the shoot. The project was announced last year and will reunite Sunny and Preity on-screen once again.
