Dhurandhar: Ranveer Singh and star-studded cast kick off Aditya Dhar's next film in Thailand

Director Aditya Dhar has put together an impressive ensemble cast for his next action drama, tentatively titled Dhurandhar. The film will feature Ranveer Singh, Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal in pivotal roles. Based on the quality of his gripping script—which is reportedly reminiscent of Nikkhil Advani's critically acclaimed film D-Day (2013)—Dhar, who is renowned for his meticulous casting, has succeeded in bringing these talents together.

Earlier this month, PeepingMoon exclusively reported the casting news, generating significant excitement among fans eager for another hit from Dhar. Ranveer Singh is set to play an intelligence officer in this mission-based thriller, while details of the other characters remain tightly under wraps. The film's storyline is inspired by true events from the history of R&AW, India's premier intelligence agency, and is set during its golden era.

The latest update around the development is that the first schedule of Dhurandhar will take place in Thailand, where much of the film’s intel network interactions will be shot, according to Pinkvilla. The production will then move to India and the UAE. A source revealed, "The screenplay is based on incredible true events from the history books of R&AW. The team will unite for the international leg, followed by schedules in India and UAE."

While the film is yet to receive an official title, the cast has already gathered for a photoshoot earlier this month. "The official announcement is around the corner. Ranveer is excited to venture into the new world of agents with Aditya Dhar’s next. Sanjay Dutt will play the antagonist, while Ranveer Singh, Akshaye Khanna, R. Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal will portray key figures within the Indian intelligence system," the source added.

To ensure authenticity, all look tests have been completed to align the characters with real-life agents. "After URI, this is the perfect follow-up for director Aditya Dhar. He is intrigued by the world of spies and believes that his next will connect with audiences globally. Ranveer is also pumped up to return to the sets with Dhar’s next," the source concluded.

The movie is scheduled for release in the second half of 2025 and will be shot over the course of six months. The top studio in India has agreed to work with the production team; an official announcement is anticipated soon.
