Veteran actor Zeenat Aman recently took to Instagram to call out the shady proposals and the barrage of collaboration requests she has been receiving from various brands. The seasoned actress, known for her candidness, expressed her shock at the 'impudence' of multimillion-dollar brands that expected her endorsement for a low fee.
In her post, Zeenat shared several photos from a recent photoshoot and included a lengthy caption. She began by stating, “Thank you, but no thank you. I can’t tell you my precise worth, but I do know when I’m being undervalued.” She highlighted the various requests she receives daily, some of which stand out for all the wrong reasons. These included last-minute invitations addressed to other celebrities, impolite emails with minimal details, and shady proposals to post stories or comments without the paid partnership tag.
Zeenat specifically called out luxury brands, saying, “Yet none of these compare to the impudence of multimillion-dollar brands that expect my endorsement in exchange for ‘brand association’ and a ludicrously low fee. Such luxury brands pay an eye-watering penny to their ambassadors and sell even their most basic item for multiple lakhs of rupees.” She noted the disparity between the admiration these brands express and the compensation they offer, stating that they fall short when it comes to paying for her time, energy, reputation, and reach.
The actress concluded her post by asserting her self-worth and professionalism. “I am over 70 years old, and I have held my own in this industry for over half a century. I work with what I know to be an unusual professionalism. I have a social media audience that is not only entirely organic but also beautifully engaged. I have immense respect for myself and for you who follow my page. I am certainly worth more than the price of a designer handbag or high-heel shoe.”
The post sparked discussion on Reddit, where users speculated about the actor Zeenat referred to as having 'beautifully reprised' a role of hers. Many users suggested it might be Priyanka Chopra, who reprised Zeenat's role in the movie Don and is also a brand ambassador for Bulgari.
On the work front, Zeenat Aman will next be seen in the film Bun Tikki, starring Shabana Azmi and Abhay Deol. The film’s team recently celebrated a wrap-up party.
