Akshay Kumar on box office failure “learn to see silver lining”

Akshay Kumar is undoubtedly Khiladi Kumar in Bollywood releasing 4-5 movies a year. The actor is popular to deliver content driven films yet experience box office failure. Looking back hiss past performance Akshay also known as Content Kumar experienced a setback with OMG, Mission Raniganj, Bade Miyan Chote Miyan, and the latest release Sarfira. The actor has now opened up on consecutive box office flops and how he channels his energy and resilience to bounce back.

Despite being a biographical drama and an inspiring story Sarfira struggled at the box office. The film even received critical acclaim and a positive response from the audience yet it toiled to make box office numbers. According to Sacnilk reports, the journey of Captain GR Gopinaath who launched Deccan Air made a total business of Rs 21.80 in 12 days of theatrical run. In spite of the film’s disappointing performance, Akshay Kumar remains resilient and undaunted.

Speaking to Forbes India, Akshay Kumar said, "Behind every film, there is a lot of blood, sweat and passion that goes in. It is heartbreaking to see any film fail. But you have to learn to see the silver lining. Every failure teaches you the value of success and increases the hunger for it even further. It hurts and impacts you, but that won't change the fate of the film."

Kumar highlighted his commitment to efforts, rectifying errors, and devoting himself entirely to his next projects. He also offered his insights on overcoming challenges, saying, "I believe it was the mindset of limitation. Coming from a humble background, the idea of making films in Bollywood seemed like a distant dream to me. The industry is competitive, and breaking into it requires more than just talent-it requires resilience, hard work, and a bit of luck. But I was stubborn and adamant. So, I took a leap, trusted my instinct, and stayed focused on my goals. That persistence has been crucial in shaping my journey."

Akshay Kumar acknowledged that he now pays close attention to content ensuring it relates with the time. Meanwhile, Akshay Kumar is gearing up for his next film Khel Khel Mein slated to release on August 15, 2024. Next in the pipeline, he has Welcome to the Jungle, the third installment of the Welcome series.
