Aliya Basu Gayab Hai trailer disappoints with cringe plot and lacks potential

The trailer of Aliya Basu Gayab Hai was released today after generating curiosity with a captivating first-look poster. However, the trailer results in disappointment offering yet another regular story of the kidnap of a girl. Backed by Rehab Pictures, the film features Vinay Pathak, Raima Sen, and Salim Diwan in leading roles. Touted to be an edge-of-the-seat thriller Aliya Basu Gayab Hai fails to keep the audience hooked on its loose narrative.

The 1 minute 42 seconds long trailer opens up with Raima Sen playing the lead Aliya Basu, daughter of industrialist Gautam Basu, who has been abducted in return for hefty ransom. Aliya struggles to break free of herself from the kidnappers and pleads with her father to help in rescue. When the abductors arrive at the designated spot to collect the ransom, they discover it's a deception and no money is present.

Aliya Basu Gayab Hai follows a familiar plot where the daughter of a wealthy man is kidnapped for personal revenge. The movie is a suspense thriller but the trailer doesn’t promise any such elements. It adds tackles themes of sexuality and complex human emotions, falling off track from the theme of a mystery drama. The film may not relate to the audience who are looking forward to fresh content these days.

Reportedly, a remake of a Dutch movie, Aliya Basu Gayab Hai offers cringe content. Films with adult themes have failed to find an audience. Talking about the star cast, Raima Sen doesn’t hold a strong appeal in cinema, while Vinay Pathak’ss recent films failed to find commercial success. Salim Diwan’s debut film Bollywood Diaries was both critically panned and a commercial disaster.

If you were intrigued to watch the movie with its title and poster then do not keep high hopes, it may lead you to disappointment.
