Mr. India 2: Janhvi Kapoor expresses if she wants to star in late mother Sridevi’s iconic movie

Janhvi Kapoor created a name for herself in Bollywood debuting with Dhadak in 2018. She is now gearing up for her upcoming political thriller titled Ulajh. While, promoting the movie she revealed if she would want to feature in the sequel of her late mother Sridevi’s movie Mr. India. Moreover, she even expressed her thoughts on whether the classic movie should be extended to a franchise.

In an interview with Pinkvilla, Janhvi said, "Mr India is one of the best films to have come out of Indian cinema. I don't know if a film like that should ever be remade or touched again. I don't know what the plans for that are. Again, I think the makers know best. Whoever the director would be, he will know best. Something as pure as that, you can't enforce things on that."

Last year, Mr. India’s hero Anil Kapoor teased at a sequel featuring in an advertisement as his iconic character. At that time Boney Kapoor had hinted at a part two sharing a video on X, and wrote, “Work in progress for a big screen appearance. #MrIndia #MrIndia2 @AnilKapoor.”

In the same interview, the actress reflected on trusting her father-producer Boney Kapoor's decision. She said, "Never have I been like, 'No, I don't want to do this film'. I trust his judgement, too much. I never reject it. But I have never put that pressure on him to have me in his film. I am his daughter first and an actress speaking to a producer, second. It's not even in my head. As a daughter, I want him to make decisions that are best for his business model; for his movie. And I only want him to operate in that way, so I haven't ever been like, 'Please take me (in your film)'".

Janhvi Kapoor’s next film Ulajh stars her as the youngest IFS officer. The political thriller is directed by Sudhanshu Saria also features Gulshan Devaiah and Roshan Mathews. Produced by Junglee Pictures it is slated to release on August 2, 2024.
