Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt, one of Bollywood's most beloved couples, continue to capture the hearts of fans with them on and off-screen chemistry. In a recent chat on Nikhil Kamath’s podcast, Ranbir shared insights into their marriage, their 11-year age gap, and the efforts Alia has made to strengthen their relationship.
Ranbir expressed his gratitude for marrying Alia, saying, “I’m so lucky I married somebody I’m so close to as a friend where we can really chat, laugh, and confide. She’s my best friend. I got really lucky with that.”
He reminisced about their first meeting, which took place when Alia was just 9 years old, and he was 20. They did a photoshoot together for Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s film 'Balika Vadhu,' which never materialized. Reflecting on their early encounters, Ranbir noted, “It seems a little weird now to say.”
Over the years, Ranbir came to realize Alia’s special qualities. “She’s a wonderful person, very colorful and vibrant. I have immense respect for her as an actor, artist, person, daughter, and sister. She really makes me smile. I love going on holidays with her but I also love being home with her,” he shared.
Addressing Alia’s personality and work ethic, Ranbir said, “She’s ambitious and an overachiever. Work is something she’s extremely passionate about. She’s extremely intelligent and sometimes fragmented, so you have to get her attention. But over the years, she has made efforts to give me her attention and listen when I’m talking.”
Ranbir acknowledged that Alia has made more changes for him than he has for her. He admitted, “She changed more for me than I changed for her. I should do something about it. She used to speak in a very loud tone, which rattled me because of my father’s tone growing up. She really made efforts to change that, and it’s not easy.”
He also shared a humorous anecdote about baking a cake for Alia’s birthday and talked about their life together since they started dating in 2018. Their romance blossomed during a plane ride to Tel Aviv and grew stronger as they lived together during the pandemic.
Ranbir and Alia tied the knot on April 14, 2022, in an intimate ceremony at their Mumbai residence, surrounded by family and close friends. They welcomed their daughter, Raha Kapoor, on November 6 of the same year.
As fans continue to admire their journey, Ranbir and Alia’s relationship remains a testament to love, friendship, and mutual respect in the dynamic world of Bollywood.
