Hansal Mehta Slams Government Officials for Preventing Aadhaar Card Application for Daughter, Labels it “Harassment”

Bollywood filmmaker Hansal Mehta, known for his candid social media presence, has once again made headlines, this time for his criticism of government officials. The acclaimed director, recognized for films like Shahid, took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his frustration over what he describes as harassment faced by his daughter while trying to obtain an Aadhar card.

In a recent tweet, Mehta detailed his daughter’s ongoing struggle with the Aadhar office in Andheri East. He shared, “My daughter has been trying to apply for an Aadhar card for the past three weeks. Despite enduring the long journey to the office, braving the rain, and arriving early, she has been repeatedly sent back by the senior manager for various reasons. Whether it's the need for additional signatures, incorrect document stamps, or claims of being on leave, every visit has been met with a new obstacle. This situation is incredibly frustrating and amounts to harassment”.

The filmmaker’s tweet quickly garnered widespread attention, with numerous users responding with their own stories of similar bureaucratic hurdles. Many netizens empathised with Mehta’s plight and offered advice on how to navigate the system, suggesting various strategies to address such issues.

On a different note, Hansal Mehta is currently gearing up for the release of his upcoming film The Buckingham Murders. Featuring Kareena Kapoor Khan in the lead role, the film, set to hit theatres on September 13, will see Kapoor portray a detective named Jess Bhamra.
