Pushpa fame Allu Arjun told Nikkhil Advani what’s Wrong with Bollywood

The South vs Bollywood debate is never-ending and it has once again gained attention as allegedly South movies outperformed as compared to Hindi films. The discussion was heated up after the pandemic when Bollywood struggled to attract an audience while Telugu and Tamil films garnered attention nationwide. Films like RRR, Pushpa, and KGF 2 among others kept the cash registers ringing at the box office. However, the Hindi film industry saw a bright light when Pathaan, Jawan, Animal, and others ruled the box office but it was a short phase as Hindi movies again failed to entice moviegoers.

Several celebrities have expressed their opinion and now recently, Nikkhil Advani shared Allu Arjun’s thoughts on the South vs North debate. Allu, who garnered nationwide attention with the blockbuster hit Pushpa: The Rise said “what’s wrong with Bollywood”, reveals Nikkhil. The Pushpa star, who is now gearing up for the sequel, believes people in Bollywood have forgotten to be heroes.

In an interview with Galatta Plus, Nikkhil Advani said, “I met Allu Arjun and we were talking about doing a film and he looked at me and he said ‘you know what’s wrong with Bollywood?’ You all have forgotten how to be heroes.” The director further added, “Everyone thinks about South cinema being mythology and everything, but they take the core emotion. Like water irrigation, let’s make a film about it and now they have packaged that with incredible action, incredible moments of heroism.”

Nikkhil then emphasis on the heroism in Bollywood which was witnessed in old classic movies. He referred to the heroism of Amitabh Bachchan in films like Kaalia and Coolie. He even gave an example of Shah Rukh Khan in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa showcasing more heroism than most heroes in the present time.
