Telugu actor Naga Chaitanya popularly known as Chay and actor Sobhita Dhulipala are set to officially announce their relationship with engagement ceremony this Thursday, August 8. After years of speculation and rumors Hindustan Times can confirm the couple will be celebrating this milestone. It will occur in an intimate ceremony at the home of Chay's father. He is renowned actor Nagarjuna.
Sources close to Chay have revealed exclusively to HT, “Yes, Naga Chaitanya and Sobhita Dhulipala are getting engaged on Thursday around noon. The ceremony will be very private and intimate, taking place at Nagarjuna’s home in the evening. Nagarjuna is likely to be the one to share the news first on social media.”
Expected to attend the ceremony are Chay’s mother Amala Akkineni his brother Akhil and Sobhita’s parents. The engagement will be held at Akkineni family’s luxurious home in the upscale Jubilee Hills area of Hyderabad. This is a well-known landmark. It is akin to Shah Rukh Khan’s residence in Bandra, Mumbai.
Chay’s engagement has also impacted his professional commitments. A source from Geetha Arts confirmed that shooting for Chay’s current film Thandel, has been canceled for August 8. It stars opposite Sai Pallavi. Chay will resume shooting on Friday.
Chay previously married to actor Samantha Ruth Prabhu, separated from her in October 2021. He and Sobhita 32, have been dating since 2022. Their relationship first became public through Reddit thread that posted pictures of them dining together at Chef Surender Mohan’s famous London restaurant. Despite their efforts to keep relationship private social media posts from the same locations fueled speculation. Their shared love for Formula 1 and wine tasting trips in Europe confirmed their relationship further.
Chay’s father, Nagarjuna, has already hinted at his approval. In a recent event, he praised Sobhita, saying, “She was so good (in the film). I mean, I should not say it like this, but she was hot in the film. There is something so attractive about her.” This statement has gone viral as the engagement news spread.
Fans can expect photos from engagement ceremony to be released on social media. Chay and Sobhita are planning to tie the knot later in 2024. Meanwhile Samantha has been promoting her series Citadel with Varun Dhawan. Samantha and Chay were married in a grand ceremony. This took place in Goa in October 2017. Their marriage lasted four years. They announced their separation in October 2021.
