John Abraham confronts journalist over repetitive film choices at Vedaa trailer launch, read more

Bollywood actor John Abraham recently found himself in tense exchange with a journalist during the trailer launch of his upcoming film Vedaa, directed by Nikkhil Advani. The confrontation arose. The reporter questioned John about his tendency to take on similar roles. He asked whether John planned to bring something new to the table.

During candid conversation on The Ranveer Show podcast John explained reason behind his outburst. He revealed that he believed journalist had been planted to provoke him. "I know that one person was planted there to rile me up, to antagonize me, to make me angry. And I want to say that they won and I lost because I got angry," John admitted, expressing his frustration over what he perceived as an intentional attempt to unsettle him.

John also shared past experience from the early days of his career. A magazine editor published a story declaring his career over. Ironically that same editor is now a co-producer on Vedaa. John reflected on his experiences with media. He criticized the state of entertainment journalism in India, saying, "I don’t like trailer launches because you time travel 20 years back, the same journalists, the same absurd questions. No one is asking the right questions, and entertainment journalism in India, according to me, is finished."

When the journalist at the event suggested John try “kuchh naya” (something new) the actor initially reacted angrily. He questioned whether the reporter had even watched the film. The reporter admitted that they had not. They were basing their opinion solely on the trailer. John responded sharply, “Can I call out bad questions and idiots?”

After cooling down, John explained that his role in Vedaa is different from his previous work, describing it as an "intense performance." He urged the journalist to watch the film before passing judgment, adding humorously, “After that, I am all yours. Whatever you say. But if you're wrong, I'm going to turn you around and tear you apart.”

Vedaa features John Abraham in lead role alongside Sharvari and is helmed by acclaimed director Nikkhil Advani.
