Actor Varun Sood opens up about the transformation of his character in his upcoming show ‘Naam Namak Nishan’

Varun Sood, known for his strong screen presence and dedication to his craft, is gearing up for his role as a cadet in the upcoming web series ‘Naam Namak Nishan.’ The actor, who has made a significant mark with his debut film JugJugg Jiyo and his debut web show Karmma Calling, is leaving no stone unturned in transforming himself for this new challenge. His rigorous preparation process for the role is a testament to his commitment to authenticity in his performances.

Reflecting on his transformation journey, Varun shares, “Before starting my shoot for Naam Namak Nishan, I was shooting for Call Me Bae. My character in Call Me Bae was required to be very muscular and a little bulkier. The moment the shoot ended, I flew to Delhi to do some research work and to talk to my dad about his academy days. That's when he told me to start looking like a cadet first, so I started doing a lot of drills that the cadets do.”

To achieve the desired look and feel of a cadet, Varun sought the guidance of a well-known basketball coach who put him through a severe training regimen. “I got in touch with a very popular basketball coach. His name is Sanjeev, and he trained me for a good 7-10 days. It was very, very intense and hardcore training. I trained like an athlete to look like a cadet. I did a lot of rope work. I was on a very strict diet and I made sure that I was not cheating on either my meals or my workout plan, and those 20 days were physically extremely taxing for me, but that's the only reason I could look like a cadet overall,” Varun explained.

With Naam Namak Nishan on the horizon and Call Me Bae, where he stars alongside Ananya Panday, Varun Sood is all set to showcase his versatility as an actor. His dedication to his craft, from bulking up for one role to shedding it for another, highlights his unwavering commitment to delivering authentic performances that resonate with audiences.
