Zoya Akhtar on plans to collaborate with Salman Khan, “It would be delicious”

Salman Khan and Zoya Akhtar have shared a close bond since their childhood yet they have not collaborated professionally. The duo have never worked together in any film despite having a friendly family connection. Their fathers Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar have a historic collaboration as a dynamic writer duo Salim-Javed delivering cinematic classics in Indian cinema. Director Zoya Akhtar says a team-up with Salman Khan would be delicious and would be possible only when they find the right idea that appeals to both.

Well, both have recently joined hands to produce the Amazon Prime Video docuseries, Angry Young Men. The show captures glimpses of the unheard stories of Salim and Javed's personal and professional life. Zoya and Salman have collaborated to showcase their father’s life and their immense contribution to the Indian cinema at a larger scale. However, both have never worked together as an actor and director.

In a recent interview with Bollywood Hungama, Zoya Akhtar shared her opinion if she would be interested in working with Salman Khan. She replied, “It would be amazing! He is a megastar who has got a crazy persona and a huge fanbase. I have to obviously find a subject that works for him, his fans, and me. The minute we find a subject, it would be delicious, it would be a lot of fun.”

Zoya recalled visiting Salman Khan’s house after years to discuss the Angry Young Men. She said, “It was fun, we were in his lawn and had some tea, all his nephews were around. It was a nice feeling to be back at Galaxy because we grew up there and played in that garden.”

Angry Young Men is produced by Salman Khan’s home production Salman Khan Films, Zoya Akhtar’s Tiger Baby, and Farhan Akhtar’s Excel Entertainment. The docuseries is set to premiere exclusively on Prime Video on August 20.
