Zeenat Aman reflects on stepping out of ‘Self-Imposed Obscurity’ to attend IIFA Awards

Veteran actress Zeenat Aman recently took to Instagram to share nostalgic moment from over a decade ago when she was honoured with IIFA Award for Outstanding Achievement in Cinema. The iconic star known for her timeless roles, posted a photo from the 2010 IIFA Awards. It was held in Colombo Sri Lanka. She recalled her hesitance to step back into limelight after years away from the public eye.

In the picture Zeenat is seen radiating elegance in sparkling black gown. She holds her award with bright smile. Sharing her feelings in the caption, she wrote, “There aren’t too many pictures of me from this phase of my life. Zeenat open that she was surprised to receive invite to the star-studded event. She had been more focused on homemaking with occasional work appearances. However, despite her hesitancy, the IIFA committee convinced her to attend. She described the trip with her two sons as “a wonderful visit.” Reflecting on the event she shared how receiving the award rekindled her love for acting. She said, “I felt the allure of my craft after a long while.”

Always the keen observer Zeenat ended her post with playful note. She mentioned the high spirits of the attendees. She also referenced the behind-the-scenes antics, “There were enough shenanigans underway to fill a gossip magazine, but you know me, I believe discretion is the better part of valour.”

Zeenat Aman is now set to make highly anticipated return to the screen with Bun Tikki. It stars Shabana Azmi and is directed by Faraaz Arif Ansari. She will also appear in Netflix’s The Royals. This series features Ishan Khatter Bhumi Pednekar and Nora Fatehi.
