Nikkhil Advani recalls when he addressed Salmaan Khan as Shah Rukh Khan “He gave me a look”

Nikkhil Advani who is looking forward to the collection of his latest release Vedaa holds over 2 decades of career in the industry. Before making a directorial debut with Kal Ho Naa Ho the filmmaker started his career as an assistant director to Karan Johar for Kuch Kuch Hota Hai and Kabhie Khushi Kabhie Gham. Advani recently recalled an anecdote from the sets of Salaam-e-Ishq his second directorial film. The director revealed that he accidentally addressed Salman Khan as Shah Rukh Khan.

Nikkhil Advani had previously worked with SRK in his first film but after the success of Kal Ho Naa Ho he had a fallout with Karan Johar. During his recent appearance on the TV show Aapka Apna Zakir, the director recounted how Salman Khan turned to him as a savior when he needed the most and offered him a break for his next film. The director, who describes Salman Khan as a messiah of the film industry, was grateful to him for the much need push in his career. However, the director misnamed the actor on the first day shoot of Salaam-e-Ishq.

Speaking to comedian Zakir Khan, Nikkhil Advani revealed that during the muhrat shoot of Salaam-e-Ishq, he addressed Salman Khan wrongly as Shah Rukh Khan. And in return, he received a look from the actor and the entire set and crew went silent. He said, “It was the muhurat shot of ‘Salaam-E-Ishq,’ and the set was buzzing with energy. We had 500 junior artistes, 200 dancers, Bosco-Caesar choreographing, and of course, Salman Khan and Priyanka Chopra. As I looked at the monitor, I called out, ‘Shah Rukh, ready?’ Salman gave me a look, and the entire set fell silent. Then, with a smirk, he responded, ‘Yeah Karan, I am ready.’”

Nikkhil Advani and Salman Khan next collaborated as director and producer in 2015 for the film Hero. The director has delivered some remarkable content in the industry over the years and his recent film Vedaa starring John Abraham has also captivated the audience.
