Why Ranbir Kapoor was chosen as Lord Rama for Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana: Mukesh Chhabra explains ‘His calm presence was key’

Famous casting director Mukesh Chhabra has announced that Ranbir Kapoor will portray Lord Rama in Nitesh Tiwaris much awaited film adaptation of the Ramayana. This two-part movie also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita Yash as Raavan and Sunny Deol as Lord Hanuman promising to be a significant undertaking in Indian cinema.

Mukesh recently shared his thoughts on Ranbirs casting in a podcast episode of The Ranveer Show highlighting the actor’s calm nature as a pivotal reason behind his choice. “He has a calmness on his face, which was needed for the role. Nitesh Tiwari had thought of him early on, and it’s a great decision. The audience will realize it after seeing the film,” he enlightened.

Chhabra who has worked with Ranbir in movies such as Rockstar, Sanju and Brahmastra praised the actor’s incredible skill and capacity to deliver impactful performances. He noted that Ranbir stays neutral regarding successes and failures focused solely on his artistry.

Mukesh stressed the significance of being genuine during the casting process for a project such as Ramayana pointing out that actors are selected based on how closely their energy resonates with the core of the film. He also shared that casting for Ramayana Part 2 is ongoing and teased the idea of a potential Hanuman spin off that could serve as the instalment in the series.

As excitement buzz around the upcoming Ramayana adaptation audiences are looking forward to seeing Ranbirs take on the legendary character in this determined reimagining of the timeless tale.
