Ajay Devgan's sports drama "Maidan" was released in April, but it flopped at the box office. This wasn't the only bad news for producer Boney Kapoor this year. Before the release of the film, Boney Kapoor was embroiled in legal problems when a vendor, who had supplied equipment for "Maidan", filed a case against Boney for unpaid dues. The seller alleged that Boney delayed his payment of 1 crore by two years. Ultimately, the court ordered Boney to pay 96 lakh to the seller.
In a no-holds-barred chat on Unfiltered by Samdish’s YouTube channel, Arshad Warsi spilled some details about being short-changed by Boney Kapoor’s production house. The actor, who was hired as a choreographer for the Sridevi and Anil Kapoor starrer Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja (1993), shared that he had quoted Rs 1 lakh for a song that would take 4 days to shoot. “The movie was done, and Pankaj Parasher had been called to do a song. I was choreographing plays and ad films at the time, but Pankaj told Boney Kapoor that he wants me to do the song, so I agreed,” he recalled.
Now Boney Kapoor is once again in controversy, this time actor Arshad Warsi has surrounded him. Arshad, during an unfiltered chat on a YouTube channel, revealed that Boney Kapoor's production house underpaid him. Arshad said that he was hired as a choreographer in the 1993 film "Roop Ki Rani Choron Ka Raja". He told the producers that it would take 4 days to choreograph a song and his fee was 1 lakh. However, he was asked to complete the work in 3 days, and he worked hard and completed the work in 3 days.
When Arshad went to collect his payment, he received only 75,000. When he asked the production house person about the underpayment, he was told that the fee of 1 lakh was fixed for 4 days of work, and since he had completed the work a day earlier, 25,000 less. are given. Arshad said the industry now has managers and lawyers who prepare paper documents and contracts, thereby avoiding such disputes.
