Ramayana: TV actor to debut in Ranbir Kapoor’s mythological drama as Lakshman? Mukesh Chhabra drops hints

Ramayana is the most awaited humongous movie created by Nitesh Tiwari in Indian cinema. The highly anticipated film has made several headlines around the cast while Ranbir Kapoor has been roped in to play the titular role of Lord Ram. This cinematic adaptation of Ramayana also stars Sai Pallavi as Sita, Sunny Deol as Hanuman, and Yash as Raavan. While lead characters have been confirmed it is wondered who would play Laxman and now the casting director Mukesh Chhabra has spilled beans.

In a recent interview with Ranveer Allahbadia, casting king of Bollywood Mukesh Chhabra has opened up on the magnum opus project Ramayana. He revealed that the casting of the film went on for over last two years and finalising Lakshman was last thing. Without mentioning the name he revealed that the actor signed to play the pivotal role of Lord Ram’s brother has done several television shows. The casting director further mentioned that this will be his first Bollywood project after being loved by fans for TV shows. After a lot of auditions a newcomer was finalised for the role of Lakshman.

Mukesh said, “We’ve found a lovely actor for Lakshman. A lot of people auditioned for the role. But I’m very happy with the actor we’ve gone with, this is going to be his first film in Bollywood. It was the last role we cast. We’ve chosen a young actor who has worked a lot in television; he’s a lovely guy. We couldn’t have found a better Lakshman. I’m very happy that the people we’d initially approached all said no. Two or three people said no, because they think that Ram and Lakshman will always have to be together.”

Ramayana stars an exciting ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Sai Pallavi, Sunny Deol, Lara Dutta, and Sheeba Chaddha among others. The film directed by Nitesh Tiwari will be a two-part epic saga and probably a Hanuman spin-off will serve as the third part.
