Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub wins Best Asian Actor at Septimius awards for Scoop, ‘Much delayed but very richly deserved’

The noted actor Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub has been awarded Best Asian Actor at the prestigious Septimius Awards in Amsterdam for his stellar performance in the Netflix original series Scoop. Helmed by brilliant direction by Hansal Mehta, the series has attracted committed applause for its engrossing storyline and exquisite performances ranking at the top, with Ayyub's act at the forefront of it all.

Director Hansal Mehta expressed his joy on Twitter over Ayyubs win saying, "You can't keep a good man down. Congratulations @Mdzeeshanayyub for this much delayed but very richly deserved award. The Septimius Awards celebrated outstanding talent worldwide this year honoring a diverse group of actors. Among the notable recipients were Cristiana DellAnna for Best European Actress, Cyriel Guds as Best European Actor, Nika King for Best American Actress, Demetrius Grosse for Best American Actor, Elham Ali as Best Asian Actress, Gideon Okeke for Best African Actor, Leila Mcdougall for Best Oceanian Actress and John Jarratt as Best Oceanian Actor.

Scoop, produced by Matchbox Shots draws inspiration from true events and Jigna Vora's book Behind Bars in Byculla My Days in Prison. The show boasts a cast including Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, Karishma Tanna and Harman Baweja along with a cameo by Scam 1992-star Pratik Gandhi. It follows Jagruti a journalist who gets entangled in a dangerous situation involving the police, underworld and media. A single phone call triggers a series of events that propel the gripping storyline.

Zeeshan Ayyubs victory at the Septimius Awards further solidifies Scoops status as one of the standouts shows this year.
