Yuvraj Singh’s biopic announcement has left everyone excited. Well, even before this another biographical drama about a cricketer is in the making. Since 2021, a film on the life of former Indian cricketer Sourav Ganguly has been in talks and Ayushmann Khurrana is rumored to portray the real-life character. According to reports, the actor has been discussing the project with Luv Ranjan who is set to bring the story of former Indian cricket team captain and ex-BCCI president to cinema. However, as per the latest reports around the development Khurrana has backed out of the project and makers will go back to the recasting stage.
According to Bollywood Hungama reports, a source confirmed, "Luv Rajan and his team were giving final touches to the script of Sourav Ganguly Biopic when Ayushmann Khurrana dropped the bomb of backing out. The actor has cited date issues, and also explained the conversation of biopic overdose in the film industry. He is now focusing on Thamma with Dinesh Vijan and will follow that up with the Spy Comedy by Dharma. Playing Sourav Ganguly on big screen is a once in lifetime opportunity for the actors and Luv is sure to get a top actor to play the leading man."
Well, at the same time another source close to the actor denies Ayushmann turning down the project. “This is incorrect information. Ayushmann hasn’t even heard the narration of this film. The narration of the film is set to take place next month. Everyone is excited to make this one happen,” the source said.
Meanwhile, recently Ayushmann Khurrana was also supposed to star alongside Sunny Deol in Border 2. The actor stepped down from that film as well stating he was unsure of his positioning in the movie.
