Amar Kaushik responds to CBFC’s edit of Neha Kakkar joke in Stree 2: ‘people understood the reference’

Amar Kaushik has spoken about how the Central Board of Film Certification CBFC changed a joke about Neha Kakkar in his new movie Stree 2. This supernatural comedy that was released on August 15 is getting noticed not just for its spookiness and visual effects but also for its comedic elements.

In a recent chat with Bollywood Hungama Kaushik shared the reason behind altering the line referencing Neha Kakkar to Sneha Kakkar. The director revealed, “The CBFC members pointed out that such jokes could hurt sentiments. We thought they had a valid point and chose not to contest their request to change the name. Anyway, people understood the reference.”

Kaushik recognized that humour often involves jokes and stressed that the aim of the conversation penned by Niren Bhatt was to capture moments of everyday comedy. He commended the members of the CBFC for their astuteness and empathy pointing out that although some edits were anticipated the board understood the significance of the dialogue within the story and permitted most of it to stay intact.

Stree 2 starring Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Aparshakti Khurrana and Pankaj Tripathi also features cameos from Tamannaah Bhatia, Varun Dhawan and Akshay Kumar. Despite some editing the movie has been well received for its captivating mix of humour and spooky elements. The movie keeps making a splash in theatres showcasing the power of its one of a kind mix of supernatural themes and comedy.
