Suriya’s Kanguva postpones release to avoid clash with Rajinikanth’s Vettaiyan

The release date of the much-awaited fantasy thriller Kanguva starring Suriya has been changed. It was originally set to premiere in theaters on October 10 coinciding with the launch of Rajinikanth’s film Vettaiyan. The prospect of a clash between these two major Tamil cinema stars at the box office led to widespread speculation about the results. However, it seems that Kanguva has chosen to withdraw from this competition.

As per reports making rounds on the internet, it seems that the creators of Kanguva have opted to push back the film’s release with a new target date set for Diwali on October 31, 2024. Although no official confirmation has been given by the production crew this speculated adjustment in timing comes after Lyca Productions' announcement on August 19 regarding the release date of Vettaiyan which was supposedly locked in for a considerable period.

In the realm of cinema box office showdowns are quite common, especially in the South Indian film industry where prominent stars frequently go head-to-head with their releases. Nevertheless, it appears that Suriya's team has opted to steer clear of such a clash on this occasion.

Kanguva, helmed by director Siva and produced by Studio Green and UV Creations, is making waves in the industry especially following the release of its first look trailer on August 13. Fans are taken aback by Suriya's striking and unrecognizable transformation for the role where he is set to portray three unique characters. The anticipation surrounding the film's debut is palpable with many eager to see how Suriya brings these diverse roles to life.

Kanguva stars Bobby Deol, Disha Patani, Natarajan Subramaniam, Jagapathi Babu, and Yogi Babu in the lead roles. Much expectation from this movie since it is touted to be one of Suriya's most ambitious ventures.

The decision to delay Kanguva, especially with both it and Vettaiyan being hailed as potential hits, has only heightened excitement for these movies. Moviegoers will now need to hold on for a bit before getting to see Suriya's newest film.
