Rhea Chakraborty used social media to reflect on a helpful turning point in her career. She recalled how, at a Laal Singh Chaddha audition, Aamir Khan complimented her acting skills. While discussing this on her show Chapter 2 Rhea shared the touching note Aamir sent her following her screen test even though the part eventually went to Kareena Kapoor.
While chatting Aamir recalled how they met for the first time during the screen test and mentioned that he still vividly remembers Rhea's impressive acting. “It was a good screen test,” Aamir noted while explaining that Kareena Kapoor was chosen for the lead role.
Rhea, noticeably touched, replied, “You sent me a message, which really surprised me. I’ve auditioned for thousands of films, and it's rare for anyone to message you after you don’t get the part. But you did, and I was really shocked. I showed that message to my mom, dad, and everyone and said, ‘See, Aamir Khan thinks I’m a good actor.’”
Aamir, drawing from his own experience, he added, “When you're struggling as an actor, rejection is tough. I used to audition a lot and get rejected, so I understand the feeling. That’s why I believe it’s important to at least let someone know they didn’t get the role, rather than leaving them waiting.”
Despite the lackluster performance of Laal Singh Chaddha, the 2022 Hindi version of Forrest Gump at the box office, Aamir Khan stays hopeful about his upcoming ventures. He is preparing for a role in Sitaare Zameen Par and is planning to work with Rajkumar Santoshi and Sunny Deol on the film Lahore, 1947, which he is producing with Aamir Khan Productions.
