Kartik Aaryan celebrates Dahi Handi: "For the first time in my career, shot a dahi handi sequence"

Riding high on the triumph of Chandu Champion Kartik Aaryan who showcased a stellar portrayal of Indian Olympic swimmer Murlikant Petkar infused the film's spirit into the festivities of Krishna Janmashtami. Reminiscing about a moment from the sports drama Kartik took to platforms to post the Dahi Handi scene from the movie. He posted the clip with the caption, "For the first time in my career, shot a Dahi Handi sequence for Chandu Champion... Felt the energy, the adrenaline, and the spirit of this festival in every moment we captured. Happy Janmashtami."

Kartik’s portrayal in Chandu Champion has received praise with him winning the Best Performance (Male) award at the Indian Film Festival of Melbourne 2024 (IFFM). The film's director Kabir Khan also took home the Best Director award at the event. In his echoes of this gratitude, Khan expressed, “Since it was from an international jury... it gives you validation.” He further shared, “When I heard Chandu Champion’s story, I knew it had to be told... if I didn’t tell this story, it would be a crime that our country would never get to know about Murlikant Petkar.”

The making of the movie met challenges, especially for Kartik who had to transform his body to bring the character to life. Khan reminisced about this experience. “The making was tough... Kartik went from 39 percent body fat to seven percent, dedicating a year-and-a-half to learning boxing, fighting against real boxers in the film.”

After Chandu Champion Kartik has a bunch of big movie releases coming up. These include Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3 set to hit theaters during Diwali Pati Patni Aur Woh 2 and a musical love story directed by Anurag Basu.
