Om Raut praises Salman Khan and Prabhas as "Flop-Proof" stars amidst box office challenges

Salman Khan and Prabhas have faced setbacks at the box office yet they enjoy a humongous fanbase. In the past, a few movies by both superstars of Indian cinema underperformed in theaters however, they managed to make a good business. Director Om Raut who worked with Prabhas in his last offering Adipurush called both stars flop-proof stating they are beyond. To note Adipurush was a flop but did well in terms of box office numbers.

In a recent interview, the National award-winning director for Ajay Devgn’s Tanhaji spoke about the distinction between audience response to Adipurush and its box office revenue. He was quoted saying, "A film's criticism and its box office performance and two different things. In the case of 'Adipurush', the revenue was huge. The film did Rs 70 crore in India alone on the first day. Our box office still did Rs 400 crore [despite criticism]. So, the numbers are very large. It did so well at the box office."

He further added, "With 'Adipurush', there was a loss of perception, not a loss of revenue. Had we not lost on the perception, we would have seen exorbitant numbers which we didn't see. Aggressive media is bigger [than the rest of the voices], but, that is the nature of the business."

In the same interview, Om Raut hailed Salman Khan and Prabhas who are considered superstars from both the film industries. "Actors like Prabhas and Salman Khan are flop-proof stars. They have a big fan following, a certain perception, and a certain image that doesn’t get affected by some flops. They are just beyond."

On the work front, Salman Khan is currently shooting for his upcoming movie Sikandar directed by A.R. Murugadoss and produced by Sajid Nadiadwala. On the other hand, Prabhas last featured in Kalki 2898 AD which received an underwhelming performance at the box office.
