Bollywood cheers as Avani Lekhara, Mona Agarwal, and Indian Para-Athletes shine at Paris Paralympics – Kareena, Ayushmann, and Sonu Sood lead the applause

Indian para-athletes are making waves at the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games. Last Friday, India brought home a total of four medals, including one gold one silver and two bronze. The standout moment of the day came when Avani Lekhara secured a medal in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle Standing SH1 final adding to her already impressive list of accomplishments.

In the same event she was joined by newcomer Mona Agarwal who won a bronze medal. Preethi Pal created history by being the first Indian para-athlete to win bronze in the women's T25 100m race, and Manish Narwal also had a strong effort, winning silver in the men's event.

Kareena Kapoor Khan, Ayushmann Khurrana, Sonali Bendre, Jackky Bhagnani, Rakul Preet Singh,Sonu Sood and others celebrated India's victory at the Paralympics.

Kareena Kapoor Khan took to Instagram to share a collage celebrating the winners Avani, Mona, Manish and Preethi with a heartfelt message of congratulations. "Huge congratulations," she wrote, tagging each athlete. Similarly, Ayushmann Khurrana praised the para-athletes through his remarks, "What an amazing day for India at the Paralympics. Feeling super proud," and congratulated them in his post.

Sonali Bendre took to social media to express her happiness sharing a picture of Avani and Mona showcasing their medals. She included the caption, "Medals are home again.” Producer Jackky Bhagnani commended Avani for her gold medal victory and Mona for securing bronze, stating that "phenomenal achievements" and said their success is "nothing short of extraordinary." Rakul Preet Singh posted a comparable montage and praised both sportspeople for their "hard work and dedication."

Sonu Sood took to X, previously known as Twitter, to share a moment of pride. He posted a photo of Avani and Mona flashing their victory signs along with a heartfelt caption, "Proud of you both."

Avani Lekhara triumph with a medal marks a historic moment as she becomes the first Indian woman who won two golds at the Paralympic Games. During the Tokyo 2020 Games, she broke her own Paralympic record with a final score of 249.7. The resilience and unwavering spirit of India’s para-athletes at the upcoming Paris Paralympic Games 2024 serve as a beacon of inspiration for countless individuals.
