Famed producer Ravi Shankar from Mythri Movie Makers has weighed in on the recent uproar regarding Pawan Kalyan’s comments about lead actors depicting smugglers in South Indian films. In a press interaction Pawan Kalyan voiced his worries about the portrayal of contemporary heroes as smugglers leading to speculation that his remarks were directed at Allu Arjun's Pushpa series.
Clarifying the issue, Ravi Shankar explained, “Pawan Kalyan Garu was speaking in a different context. People misunderstood and assumed he was referring to Pushpa 2. His stature is much higher, and he wouldn’t say anything to negatively affect the film industry. His comments were unrelated to our film.”
The comments made by the actor turned politician gained traction earlier this month. While working alongside the Forest Minister of Karnataka Kalyan shared his thoughts on how the portrayal of heroes in movies has evolved over time. He contrasted present day protagonists often depicted as smugglers with the classic heroes from four decades ago who were portrayed as guardians of nature. His remarks sparked curiosity among fans regarding the messages conveyed through contemporary films.
There was a lot of chatter on social media suggesting that Pawan Kalyan's comments were a subtle jab at the Pushpa movies starring Allu Arjun as a sandalwood smuggler. Nevertheless, Shankar's explanation sought to dispel these speculations.
In other news, the highly awaited Pushpa 2 The Rule helmed by Sukumar and featuring Allu Arjun is scheduled to be released in cinemas on December 6. Addressing speculations about a rift between Allu Arjun and Sukumar as well as reports suggesting potential delays Ravi Shankar reassured fans that the movie is progressing smoothly. He stated, "Pushpa 2 has come out extraordinarily. We'll finish the second half by September and ensure the film is ready to release by December 6."
Pushpa 2 is set to bring back Rashmika Mandanna and Fahadh Faasil in their roles making it one of the most highly anticipated movies of the year.
