Rhea Chakraborty, the actress, recently spoke about the tough phase she went through after being accused, along with her brother Showik, in a drug case related to the investigation into Sushant Singh Rajput's death. In an interview with Humans of Bombay, Rhea revealed how her friends and family supported her during this challenging period.
Looking back on her time in jail Rhea made a lighthearted comment about how her family and pals packed on some pounds during her time behind bars. “One of my couple friends used to drink and eat with my dad every night while we were inside,” she said. “When I came out, I was like, ‘Why have you gained so much weight?’ They explained they were just trying to make my parents feel normal. And I thought, ‘Oh wow!’”
Rhea also conveyed her appreciation for the women in her life especially her dear friend Shibani Dandekar who supported her during the challenging times. “The way Shibani stood for me was enough to know that even if the whole world is against me, I have one true friend,” she added.
The accusations against Rhea originated from her alleged involvement in Sushant Singh Rajputs suicide as claimed by his family. In September 2020 she was taken into custody by the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) as part of an inquiry. However, the Bombay High Court subsequently dismissed the NCB's assertions that Rhea supported and enabled Sushant’s drug addiction, providing some support to the actress during her legal struggles.
