Ektaa Kapoor addresses Hema Committee emphasizing women safety in workplace

Ektaa Kapoor unveiled the trailer of her highly anticipated movie The Buckingham Murders starring Kareena Kapoor Khan. She attended the trailer launch today in Mumbai along with the lead star, and director Hansal Mehta. At the trailer launch, the producer addressed the Hema Committee Report of the Malayalam film industry creating concern among actors. Speaking on the subject Ektaa emphasized women's safety in any workplace.

Interacting with media at The Buckingham Murders trailer launch Ektaa Kapoor said, “Women and their safety is not just an industry issue. (It is) a workplace issue, and we take this very seriously. A lot of women have to now lead so a lot of women can join forces.”

She continued, “You have to change the agency from men to women and equalise the agency. (In) a lot of places, we need women at the top, at least running companies. For that women also have to make an initiative. Like I say, a report will come, we’ll read more about it..A conscious effort towards making a safe environment for women at any place of work, will come with women leading professional jobs. I think it has to start happening. It is still a very slanted place.”

Adding to Ektaa Kapoor’s opinion, director Hansal Mehta said, “It is up to men. This responsibility is on the men. The onus is on the men to take the initiative to ensure that this equality and safety is maintained. I think it is about time we own up and we look at safety in the eye.”

Ektaa Kapoor and Hansal Mehta’s The Buckingham Murders is headlined by a strong independent female detective cop who is on a probe to solve a murder mystery. Kareena Kapoor Khan portrays the titular role in the crime murder mystery thriller which is slated to release in theaters on September 13.
