Chiranjeevi, Mahesh Babu, and Siddu Jonnalagadda pledge crores for Andhra Pradesh and Telangana flood relief

Telugu film icons Chiranjeevi and Mahesh Babu have come forward to donate Rs 1 crore each to support flood relief initiatives in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. The stars shared their contributions on social media revealing that both Chiranjeevi and Mahesh Babu have committed Rs 50 lakhs each to the Chief Ministers Relief Funds of the respective states.

The recent show of solidarity from celebrities comes on the heels of donations made by actor Jr NTR and others. These contributions are a response to the devastating floods that have struck regions of the Telugu states resulting in the loss of 35 lives submerging vast stretches of farmland and disrupting transportation systems.

In a poignant message Chiranjeevi took to X previously known as Twitter to convey his deep sadness saying, "The hardships caused by the floods in the Telugu states make me deeply sad. The loss of innocent lives is tragic. I am contributing Rs 1 crore (50 lakhs each to AP and Telangana CM Relief Funds) to help in the relief efforts He called on people to actively help and support those impacted by the floods.

In a similar vein Mahesh Babu called for unity and togetherness. "In light of the floods impacting both the Telugu states, I am pledging Rs 50 lakhs each to the CM Relief Fund for AP and Telangana. Let’s support the ongoing relief measures and help rebuild the affected regions."

Actor Siddu Jonnalagadda lent his support to the relief efforts in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana by donating Rs 15 lakh each.

In the meantime, the India Meteorological Department IMD has issued warnings for more rain with a yellow alert in four districts of Telangana and an orange alert in NTR and Krishna districts of Andhra Pradesh. While the rains have started to ease up the scale of the destruction has left many people requiring assistance as governments ramp up their rescue and rehabilitation operations.
