Akshay Kumar’s C Shankar Nair biopic contemplates release in 2025

Akshay Kumar recently left fans in splits with his unexpected role in the blockbuster hit Stree and his return to the comedy genre in Khel Khel Mein, both released on the same day. The actor who is popular for delivering 4-5 movies a year is all set for C Sankaran Nair’s biopic. After teaming up with Karan Johar for Kesari and Good Newzz the actor and filmmaker have joined hands once again for biographical drama set against the backdrop of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre. Well, now the reports are that the movie eyeing a theatrical release in first half of next year 2025.

The yet-untitled saga is based on the life of Indian lawyer C Sankaran Nair. Alongside Akshay Kumar, the film also stars R Madhavan and Ananya Panday in leading roles. The courtroom drama directed by Karan Singh Tyagi is currently in the post-production stage and gearing up for release in the first half of 2025, according to Pinkvilla reports. 

A source close to the development said, “C Sankaran Nair Biopic is a film close to the heart of Akshay Kumar and everyone at Dharma, as it’s a story that deserves to be told on celluloid. The core plot of the film features Akshay Kumar taking down the Empire to finally recognize the horrors of the Jallianwala Bagh Massacre being committed by the British in India. The post-production work is going on in full swing, as the makers are leaving no stone unturned to recreate India and London from the era gone by.”

The source further added, “Several feedback screenings have fetched unanimous positive responses, and the team is bullish on the film. They looking to release it in the right period. The shoot is wrapped up and the content is presently in post-production mode. The makers are clear to bring their film on the big screen in the first half of 2025.” Reportedly, the title announcement will be done in a fortnight.
