‘Stree 2’ surpasses Shah Rukh Khan’s ‘Pathan’ to become the second highest-grossing hindi film

Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao's recent release 'Stree 2' is a sequel to the blockbuster horror comedy Stree, which was released in 2018. The film released in theatres on the night of August 14, 2024 and is getting a tremendous response from the audience. It has become very difficult to shake 'Stree 2' from the box office throne. Now recently 'Stree 2' has also broken the record of King Khan aka Shah Rukh Khan’s film 'Pathan' and is earning rapidly.

Amar Kaushik's horror comedy 'Stree 2' surpassed the Hindi version of SS Rajamouli's 'Baahubali 2'. According to a report by Sacnilk, a day after this, Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkumar Rao's film has become the second highest grossing Hindi film in India, beating Siddharth Anand's 'Pathan' after 25 days of release. 'Pathan', released last year, starred Shah Rukh Khan in the lead role.

On Saturday, 'Stree 2' took its total domestic box office collection to Rs 516.25 crore, surpassing the Hindi version of Prabhas-starrer 'Baahubali 2' to become the third highest-grossing Hindi film in India. However, it was left behind Shah Rukh Khan's two blockbusters from last year, 'Jawaan' and 'Pathan'.

Then, on Sunday, Stree 2 added another Rs 11 crore, taking its total to around Rs 527 crore, thus surpassing Pathan (Rs 524.53 crore). It has now become the second highest-grossing Hindi film in India. However, it still has a long way to go to regain the first spot. Jawaan still holds its place at the top of the list. Let us tell you that apart from Shraddha Kapoor, star actors like Rajkumar Rao, Pankaj Tripathi, Abhishek Banerjee and Aparshakti Khurana are in the lead roles in 'Stree 2'. This film is a part of Dinesh Vijan's horror-comedy universe, which also includes films like Bhediya and Munjya.
