Vijay Varma, who recently played the role of a pilot in the spellbinding drama series IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack, celebrated the show’s success on social media. Directed by Anubhav Sinha, the show is based on the actual incident of Indian Airlines flight IC 814's 1999 hijacking while it was traveling from Kathmandu to Delhi. Vijay portrays Captain Sharan Dev a character inspired by Captain Devi Sharan who became renowned for his courage during the hijacking.
Vijay took to Instagram to share a snapshot of himself in costume wearing a pilot’s uniform with black clothing and yellow striped cuffs. He struck a pose in front of a stationary plane. In his caption the actor conveyed his enthusiasm for the series success, which climbed to the position among India’s must-see streaming originals.
Vijay Varma likened the triumph of IC 814: The Kandahar Hijack to a “box office tsunami, thunderstorm and avalanche highlighting the series, massive popularity. He referred to the show as a “world class” production and expressed gratitude to the viewers for their support. In his caption he playfully included, “If this was a theatrical, you’d hear words like ‘BOXOFFICE TSUNAMI.’ But since it’s just a world-class show, I’d like to call it ‘The Sweetest Drizzle.’”
Anubhav Sinha joined the conversation in the comments with a light-hearted remark saying, “Aur aapko zindabad hua hai,” while actor Rajkummar Rao, whose wife Patralekhaa plays an air hostess in the series, also joined in, calling Vijay the “silent toofan” behind the show’s triumph.
