Farhan Akhtar reveals the secret music behind his iconic role in 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' and teases new project '120 Bahadur'

Farhan Akhtar is a multi-talented actor who always does wonders on screen. He has given many superhit films but his character of Milkha Singh in 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' is the most different and special which is clearly seen in the film. Whenever every actor understands the psychology of his character, he goes through a process, in the same way a tune by Trevor Jones helped Farhan to get into the character of Milkha Singh.

Farhan recently shared a glimpse of the final racing scene of 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag' on his social media. He has edited this scene in a special way. In which Trevor Jones' tune has been used which he often used to listen to to play the character of Milkha Singh. Expressing his views through the caption, he has written: “I am shocked by what happened here and I had to share it with you. Part of my process (with some characters) is to create a playlist of music that helps me connect with the main theme of the film and understand the mindset of the character I am playing. During the making of 'Bhaag Milkha Bhaag', this Trevor Jones tune became the one that helped me get into character. It starts with dramatic and somewhat serious tones followed by a folk-style violin melody that is repeated over and over again. Which makes you think, 'Where is this going?' But if you listen carefully, you will see that something is slowly building up that finally dissolves all tension and expectation - the theme of victory. For me, this piece of music perfectly represents Milkha ji's life. I listened to it constantly on my headphones while making the film. The editor did not know and the background score composers did not know. Only Rakesh knew it. Yesterday on the sets in Ladakh I heard the theme while waiting for the crew to set up the shot and wondered what it would be like if this theme was added to the last race scene. I tried it on a whim and what happened was just magic. The edit is amazing. Enjoy.”

The theme is 'Promontory' from The Last of the Mohicans by composer Trevor Jones. A look into Farhan's process gives his fans an interesting insight into him. His dedication to playing Milkha Singh was evident in his performance but this story shows even more his unique way of connecting with his character.

On the work front, Farhan is also gearing up for his next big project '120 Bahadur'. Based on the battle of Rezang La, the film will see him playing the role of Major Shaitan Singh PVC. Known for his ability to delve deeply into his roles, '120 Bahadur' is set to be another film of his that shows his dedication to telling character-driven stories.
