Ranveer Singh has built a reputation for his impactful performances and vibrant presence in the Bollywood industry. But not all of his movies have been successful straight immediately, and there was a period in his career when he faced a setback following the lackluster reception to his 2013 picture Lootera. Actor Gulshan Devaiah who collaborated with Ranveer on Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram-Leela recently shared insights about Ranveer's emotional challenges during that phase.
During a chat with Lehren, Retro Gulshan shared how the box office disappointment of Lootera hit Ranveer hard even though the movie was praised by critics. Directed by Vikramaditya Motwane Lootera showcased a side of Ranveer as he portrayed a brooding thief named Varun Srivastava. Unfortunately, the film didn't do well commercially and Gulshan noted that this impacted Ranveer who had been hoping for its success.
Gulshan explained, "Ranveer was affected by the failure of Lootera. It had started affecting him, whether he wanted it or not." Although Ranveer's first movie Band Baaja Baaraat was well received his second one Ladies vs Ricky Bahl achieved only modest success and the lukewarm response to Lootera further dampened his spirits.
Gulshan revealed that Ranveer was feeling down during this period but his trademark "high octane energy" made a comeback when he was shooting the musical scenes in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Goliyon Ki Raasleela Ram Leela. The actor mentioned that Ranveer perked up while filming the grand song numbers and slowly regained his vibrant personality.
Gulshan expressed admiration for Ranveer's enthusiasm describing it as incredible and noting that Ranveer is just as you would imagine him to be. Having collaborated with the Padmaavat actor on Bhansali 2013 movie Gulshan revealed that Ranveer's level of energy could be quite overwhelming to behold. “Sometimes I had to walk away because I couldn’t maintain that level of energy,” Gulshan joked.
Ranveer's determination and solid passion enabled him to navigate a tough period in his professional journey despite the obstacles he encountered. His comeback with Ram Leela solidified his position as one of Bollywood's most dynamic and multi-layered talents as he continues to flourish in the entertainment world.
