Priyadarshan reveals Akshay Kumar’s Bhoot Bangla is based is inspired by Vedas and Mahabharat

Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan are the iconic actor-director duo known for comedy classics. Both have announced a reunion after 14 years with a horror comedy film titled Bhoot Bangla. Akahsy gave a treat to his fans on his birthday announcing the big collaboration with the director Priyaadarshan. This came as an unexpected surprise from the duo who have served the audience with some entertaining movies including Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, and De Dana Dan among others. 

Ever since the motion poster of Bhoot Bangla was unveiled people have been wondering what the film is about. Director Priyadarshan, who last collaborated with Akshay Kumar for Khatta Meetha 14 years ago, recently spoke about Bhoot Bangla. The ace filmmaker claims his next horror comedy is based on mythology and black magic while it is inspired by Vedas and Mahabharata. 

In an interview with Bollywood Hungama, Priyadarshan said, “It will be a new phase in the horror-comedy space. Bhooth Bangla is based on mythology and black magic. It is inspired by our Vedas and even the Mahabharat. But black magic is the dominant theme. It is a fun film. My audience which has leaned on me for entertainment for 42 years won’t be disappointed. This is the kind of cinema audiences want me to make.”

Bhoot Bangla turned out to be the most exciting upcoming project in Bollywood. Fans have been eagerly awaiting updates about the movie. Following the announcements the news of the extended cast has left the fans excited. The film also brings an ensemble cast including Paresh Rawal, Rajpal Yadav and Asrani. The movie is expected to go on floors by early 2025 and aims to release by the end of the year 2025.

Bhoot Bangla marks the seventh film for Akshay Kumar and Priyadarshan after Hera Pheri, Bhagam Bhaag, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, De Dana Dan, and Khatta Meetha. Bhoot Bangla will be produced by Akshay Kumar, Shobha Kapoor, and Ektaa R Kapoor under the banners of Cape of Good Films and Balaji Telefilms.
