Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal’s wedding became the talk of the town. The couple surprised everyone by tying the knot after keeping their 7 years long relationship secret. They remained tight-lipped about all the years and had a registered marriage on June 23 followed by a grand reception. During the wedding, there were rumors that Sonakshi’s family including her father Shatrughan Sinha, and her brother Luv Kush were unhappy with the marriage. However, bride’s father put an end to the speculation by supporting his daughter’s decision.

After months of marriage, Sonakshi Sinha revealed her parents' reaction to her decision to get married to Zaheer Iqbal. Speaking to Zoom she said, “All friends and family knew about our relationship for years. My dad was very happy. He said, ‘Jab miyan biwi raazi toh kya karega kaazi (If the couple is ready to get married, then who can stop?)’ He had met Zaheer a few times before. He is very fond of him. Their birthdays are around the same time: My dad’s is on December 9 and Zaheer’s is on December 10, so they are very similar.”

She further shared her mother Poonam Sinha’s reaction. She said, “My mom knew him. She was the first one I confided to. They themselves had a love marriage and they know how it will go.”

Zaheer Iqbal who was also present with her added to the response mentioning how he admires the veteran actor who is now his father-in-law. He said, “I am in awe of him and his intelligence. When he speaks, the knowledge that he has. Just sitting with him for an hour or two makes you feel like you have been in a university.”

Zaheer Iqbal and Sonakshi Sinha have worked together only in the film Double XL. Their pairing in the movie received love and appreciation and sparked their dating rumours.
