In a recent interview actor Vivek Oberoi reminisced about his foray into entrepreneurship at a tender age of 10. He revealed that his father, the seasoned actor Suresh Oberoi assigned him the task of selling perfumes. During the conversation with Entertainment Live Vivek reflected on the invaluable life lessons he learned from those formative experiences in door-to-door sales. He noted how they significantly influenced his approach to both business and his acting career.
Remembering his childhood, Vivek said, "I was about 10 when my father told me we’d go on a holiday in a month, but first, he wanted to teach me something over the next four weeks." Vivek’s dad entrusted him with the task of keeping an eye on the perfume stock jotting down the information in a journal and selling the items. He was permitted to retain any additional profits from sales exceeding the price giving him a glimpse into the world of finance, marketing and entrepreneurship at a young age.
Vivek shared his experience of cycling through the neighbourhood with his backpack full of perfume bottles to sell them door to door. Although he made some missteps, he gained important insights about running a business that would stay with him for life. By the time he turned 15 Vivek began brainstorming his own business concepts and even ventured into investing. At 19 he founded a tech start-up which he successfully sold to a company when he was just 22 years old.
"That’s when I realized it was possible to establish a company, sell it to an MNC, and help both investors and myself earn money," Vivek talked about how this accomplishment boosted his self-belief and encouraged him to explore ventures in both the business and entertainment worlds.
Vivek stressed the importance of diligence in his thoughts, “There should be no mistake in hard work from my side. We have to give 100 percent. When we do that, the result is mostly good—whether it’s in films, business, philanthropy, or love.”
Vivek Oberoi made his entry into Bollywood with the 2002 crime thriller Company, directed by Ram Gopal Varma. He shared the screen with Ajay Devgn, Manisha Koirala and Mohanlal in that movie. Since then, he has appeared in a variety of films such as Saathiya, Yuva, Masti, Shootout at Lokhandwala and Krrish 3. His latest project was the web series Indian Police Force directed by Rohit Shetty where he acted alongside Shilpa Shetty and Sidharth Malhotra.
In his life Vivek tied the knot with Priyanka Alva back in 2010. Priyanka is the daughter of the late Karnataka minister Jeevaraj Alva and the well-known dancer Nandini Alva. They have two kids together a daughter named Ameya Nirvana and a son named Vivaan Veer.
