Sohum Shah reacts to Tumbbad comparison with folklore Stree and Munjya

Tumbbad has been re-released in theaters once again and grabbed all the limelight with its phenomenal box office run. The folklore adventurous movie has performed unprecedentedly in cinemas surpassing its original box office collection. The film is linked with Stree and Munjya as both are also based on folklore and are horror flicks. Filmmaker Shum Shah has drawn differences between his film and Maddock Films Stree and Munjya.

In a recent interview with India Today, Sohum Shah express how Tumbbad is different from other folklore movies. He stated, "I don't think that is a problem. Those films are different. None of them are like Tumbbad. There's a lot of difference in these stories. They are not making dadi-nani ki kahaniyaan (tales shared by our grandmothers). Our story is not based in modern times. Our film begins and ends in the period time. We have a rakshas, a demon. They are not dealing with such elements."

Amid the massive buzz, Sohum Shah has announced a sequel to his highly celebrated movie. After the release of the 2018 film, Shah announced Tumbbad 2 unveiling a compelling teaser.  Tumbbad 2 guarantees to dive deeper into the fantasy folklore that made the original a cult favorite. The makers promise more gripping narrative built on the mythical universe with Tumbbad 2 - Pralay Aayega.

Sohum Shah further opened up on Tumbbad 2 saying, "The kind of love and support that you guys have given to Tumbbad, I think it will now be easy to make Tumbbad 2. We are still in the pre-production process and locking the script. Once that is done, we will look out for the right kind of backing."

Tumbbad is creating history at the box office with its re-release in theaters on September 13. Based on folklore the film turned out to be a cult classic earning a tag of cinematic masterpiece. Tumbbad can be rewatched in theaters once again.
