Guneet Monga defends Karan Johar over nepotism, Calls it unfair for him to be blamed

Karan Johar is tagged as the flag bearer of nepotism and has been criticized for the same. The filmmaker is also known for launching star kids in movies giving them a platform in the industry and making their career while outsiders struggle. While many celebrities backed KJo over nepotism criticism now Guneet Monga also stepped up to support. Both have worked together for The Lunchbox, Kill and most recently Gyaarah Gyaarah.

Guneet Monga and Karan Johar come a long way in the industry hailing from different cinematic backgrounds. She defended the filmmaker with whom she shares a passion for film that keeps them connected. Talking about KJo supporting star kids, Monga mentioned Dharma Production has also worked with newcomer actors, directors, and other talents. 

In an interview with New18, Guneet Monga supported Karan Johar over the charge of nepotism. She said, "They work with so many first-time directors and empower them. They’re giving a chance to so many new writers and actors. It’s a massive organisation that’s making cinema and OTT projects and mentoring a lot of people. For them to be blamed for only working with a certain kind of people is very, very unfair."
Monga expressed her gratitude towards Johar for his involvement in The Lunchbox. She mentioned that without Dharma Productions and Karan’s support the film might have not made it to theaters in India. She also recalled learning a lot from him during that time. Talking about KJo’s help in presenting The Lunchbox, she said, "They marketed it so well. They came, championed it, made it their own, and took it far and wide. The success of the film is as much as Dharma’s as all the producers."

Karan Johar and Gunnet Monga’s recent collaboration is Kill touted to be the most violent film in Hindi cinema. Nikhil Nagesh Bhatt's directorial starred debutant Lakshya and Raghav Juyal. The action thriller film impressed the audience with its gruesome and gory action scenes. It has received love and appreciation from the audience, critics, actors and filmmakers across the world.
