Jr NTR reveals casting insights for Devara at pre-release event: ‘Just like RRR, we wanted to…’

During a recent event to promote his upcoming film Devara, Jr NTR shared intriguing details about the casting choices for the movie. He particularly highlighted the addition of Bollywood stars Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan to the ensemble.

The upcoming movie Devara featuring Jr NTR is creating quite a stir with its stellar cast and intriguing plot. Additionally, this movie is Janhvi Kapoor and Saif Ali Khan's debut in South Indian cinema. During the event Jr NTR shared that the casting process was not careful and strategic with the goal of making a movie that resonates with audiences across the country similar to his previous hit RRR.

Jr NTR emphasized the importance of casting Janhvi Kapoor in the role of Thangam. The team faced challenges in finding the actress for the part until director Karan Johar suggested Kapoor. “While writing the script, we hadn’t decided on anyone for the female lead. Karan Johar suggested Janhvi, praising her as a bright actor.”

The actor also talked about Janhvi Kapoor's worries regarding the role especially her concerns about speaking dialogues in Telugu and honouring her late mother Sridevi's legacy. “Janhvi had a lot of fear about speaking Telugu, performing, and measuring up to her mother’s legacy. But she delivered an impressive performance that surprised us all,” Jr NTR added.

Jr NTR shared that when casting Saif Ali Khan they were looking for an actor who could bring a strong presence to the villain role similar to Saif's performance as Langda Tyagi in Omkara. “We wanted Saif to play a strong, impactful role similar to Langda Tyagi. His character will have a significant presence in the narrative,” he noted.

Under the direction of Koratala Siva Devara: Part 1 is all set to grace the big screens on September 27.
