Jani Master choreographer known for his works in Stree 2, Baahubali, and Pushpa 2 has been accused of sexual harassment. The National Award-winning choreographer was arrested on charges of raping his assistant. On September 19, he was arrested from a hotel in Goa, where he was staying to avoid arrest. 

A senior police officer informed PTI that after arrest he had been produced in front of a local court. On a transit warrant, the popular south choreographer was transported to Hyderabad where he will be placed before the court on September 20. Jani Master had also switched off his phone when he was taken in charge in Goa. 

Shaik Jani who is known by Jani Master was arrested after a 21-year-old woman accused him of sexual harassment. The victim claimed that she was facing the harassment since she was a minor. Following all the allegations, Jani will presented before the Hyderabad court and his wife will also be investigated as reportedly she was also involved. The victim accused Jani’s wife as well of abusing and harassing her. 

The Telugu choreographer’s wife stated that there is no truth in the allegation but it is a “larger conspiracy behind the complaint”. She believes her husband is being wrongly framed for political reasons to destroy his career. She said, “The allegation that the woman was harassed when she was 16 is disgusting. There is no truth in it. If the girl can show evidence, I will leave Master.”

On September 15, police registered a case of rape, criminal intimidation and assault against Jani. The victim’s statement was noted in FIR and later sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act were added. In the recorded FIR the victim mentioned that she was first harrased in 2019 at the age of 16. Jani Master is a well-known choreographer who won national award for best choreography for Thiruchitrambalam
