Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza starrer Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na is one of the best rom-com movies in Bollywood. After clocking 15 years the film remains relatable with its blend of love story, friendship, fun, and emotions. The romance drama directed by Abbas Tyrewala still gives a nostalgic ride. The screenwriter who turned director first time with this project had an idea for a potential sequel but Aamir Khan shot it down.
In a recent interview with Cyrus Broacha for his YouTube channel, Abbas Tyrewala shared Aamir Khan’s reaction to the sequel of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na. He revealed the producer Aamir Was not really impressed with the idea of a second part. The likely sequel was on the line of a rebound where Jai and Aditi are living separately and the guy rekindles romance with his ex-girlfriend Meghna. Aamir Khan denied the idea of Jai and Aditi’s separation in the sequel of Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na.
Abbas recalled a discussion with Aamir about the Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na sequel and how he reacted. He said, "I don’t know if I am allowed to say this. Mr Aamir Khan is rather sensitive about what should be spoken of and what not but shortly after Jaane Tu, I came up with an idea for the sequel. Even I wasn’t sure if I was joking or not.”
He further shared Aamir’s reaction, “I took it to Khan saab and I told him that the film starts with Jay and Aditi living separately. They are separated and Jay has an affair with Meghna. Aamir said ‘I don’t care who makes the sequel to Jaane Tu, it will never be you.' He said this is the stupidest thing.”
Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na was directed by first-time director Abbas Tyrewala who was a screenwriter. Apart from Imran Khan and Genelia D’Souza the film also stars Prateik Babbar, Manjri Fadnis, and Ratna Pathak among others. The film was produced by Aamir Khan under Aamir Khan Productions.
